About Shingle Shield LLCWe restore asphalt roofs. We do not sell replacements.
Ricky Thompson started Shingle Shield after watching neighbor after neighbor get pushed into a full roof replacement they did not need. Most of those roofs still had years left in them. This company exists to give those years back, and it does exactly one thing to get them.
The roof you already own is usually worth saving.
Asphalt shingles do not wear out the way most people assume. They dry out. The oils that keep a shingle flexible, called maltenes, evaporate under sun and freeze thaw until the shingle stiffens, curls at the edges, sheds granules into the yard and stops shedding water the way it was built to. A replacement contractor looks at that roof and writes a very large number on a very short proposal.
Shingle Shield LLC was founded in Inwood, West Virginia on a plain idea. A homeowner should not have to buy an entire new roof when the one already on the house can be restored instead. We put those oils back with a bio based rejuvenation treatment that soaks into the shingle mat, brings the flexibility back and reseals the micro cracks weather opened up. It reverses the chemistry rather than covering it up. The roof stays on the house and the money stays in your account.
That is a different business model than a replacement roofer runs, and it changes every conversation we have with you. Nobody here makes more money by telling you the roof has to come off. We are paid to make the one you have last longer, which means the honest answer and the profitable answer are the same answer.
We treat roofs across the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia, western Maryland and the northern Shenandoah Valley in Virginia. See every community we cover.
Restore it, then keep the difference.
- We look at the roof first, before you spend a dollar
- Clear written quote, usually within 24 hours
- You talk to a real rejuvenation specialist, never a call center
Ricky Thompson
Ricky came out of construction and home improvement, which is where he first noticed the pattern. Roof after roof was being condemned by people who only sold one product, and the product they sold was a new roof.
He started Shingle Shield to give Eastern Panhandle homeowners the option nobody was offering them. Instead of a tear off, an assessment. Instead of a sales pitch, a straight explanation of what the shingles are doing and why. Instead of a number with no reasoning behind it, a written quote that shows exactly what the work includes.
The company does one thing, and that is on purpose. A crew that treats asphalt shingle roofs every working day gets very good at reading them. There is no second product sitting in the truck waiting to be sold to you, so the recommendation you get is the one the roof earned. A specialist beats a generalist on the only roof that matters to you, which is yours.
Ricky oversees every project personally, so the standard on your roof is the standard he described at your kitchen table. If your roof genuinely is finished, he will tell you that too. A roof past saving is the one job this company cannot help with, and pretending otherwise would waste your money and our afternoon.

A restoration company, not a replacement company.
That one distinction explains almost everything about how we operate, what we recommend and why our quote looks nothing like the one taped to your refrigerator.
Honest assessments
We show you what we found, explain what it means and lay out the realistic options. Then you decide, on your timeline.
One treatment, done properly
Rejuvenating aging asphalt shingles is the whole company. No second product in the truck, no reason to steer you anywhere except the right answer.
Local to the Panhandle
Based in Inwood and working across three states. We know what humid summers, hard freezes and a heavy tree canopy do to shingles here.
Licensed and insured
Fully licensed and insured, carrying both general liability and workers compensation coverage on every roof we set foot on.
Transparent pricing
The work is explained and priced in writing up front. No surprise line items appear after the treatment is on the roof.
Owner on the job
Ricky Thompson oversees every project personally rather than handing your address to a subcontractor you have never spoken to.
Guaranteed in writing
Materials and workmanship are guaranteed. The term is stated on your quote before you approve anything, not buried in a brochure.
Complete cleanup
Property protected before we start, every bit of debris and equipment cleared when we finish. You should not have to clean up after us.
Look at it, treat it, document it.
Most roofs are finished inside a day or two, and you do not need to be home while the work happens.
Free roof assessment
We get on the roof, read the shingles, evaluate age and mat integrity and photograph what we find. Then you get a plain answer on whether rejuvenation will do anything for your roof. If it will not, you hear that instead of a quote.
Preparation and protection
The treatment has to reach bare shingle to work, so the surface is prepared first. Landscaping, outdoor furniture and walkways are covered before anything is applied to the roof.
Treatment and documentation
The bio based formula goes on with calibrated equipment for even coverage and deep penetration, plane by plane, and you get documentation of the finished result. More on shingle rejuvenation.
The guarantees that come with the work.
Not claims. Terms, and they are the same terms printed on your quote before you approve anything.
General liability and workers compensation
Both policies are carried on every roof we set foot on. Ask for proof at the assessment and you will get it, because on a roof job that coverage is what stands between you and somebody else’s accident on your property.
A written quote, usually within 24 hours
We come look at the roof before anyone talks about money, and nothing is billed for that visit. The written quote follows, usually within a day, and approving it is entirely your call.
Guaranteed, with the term on your quote
The treatment materials and our workmanship are guaranteed. The exact term depends on what your roof calls for and it is stated on the quote in writing, before any work begins rather than after.
- Complete cleanup on every job
- A real specialist on the phone, never a call center
- Owner Ricky Thompson personally oversees every project
- Property covered and protected before we start
